Pray the Collect for Lent 2 Almighty God, whose Son was revealed in majesty before he suffered death upon the cross, give us faith to perceive his glory, that being strengthened by his grace we may be changed into his likeness, from glory to glory; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Read (and study?) scripture passage(s) for next Sunday or from daily lectionary (see below) Open prayer. “I/we thank you God today for…” “I/we pray for (things around the world)…” “I/we pray for (things closer to home)…” “I/we pray for our bishop, Michael and for St. John the Divine – for Wendy our Priest in Charge; for Pam and Andrea and for our children and youth
“I/we pray for (people who need prayer) … in our parish: Sarah, Beverly, Thomas, Alda, Harry, Vince, Cecile, Lorna, Rosa, Mary, Ruth, Wendy, Violetta, Cathie, Jodi, Lynne, Owen, Blair, Christine, Sheila, Gray, Madeline, Olivia, Jo, Owen, Donna, Andrew, Ed, Karen, Clinton, Frank, Bill, Don and Marge, Stewart, the clients of Awakenings, the residents of Hilltop House and the patients of Squamish Hospital… I/we pray for my/our self(ves) … If you use the Anglican Rosary or Taizé chants as part of your family prayer time – it would fit in well here. This would also be a good place to do centering prayer. The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.
